Pretty quiet in blog-land lately, but after the lead up to the One Show, I needed to get some real work done.  And then there’s this thing– I needed another project like a hole in the head, but when opportunity waggles somethin’ in your face, sometimes you have to grab at it. Distracting as it may be, it actually solves a few logistical problems with the rebuild on the 750.

I’ve also had a few ridiculous ideas that were waiting for a donor, so this one is going to be somewhat of a oddball.  Not so much a “built motor “, but highly modified nonetheless.

Much like the 750, the Bmoter has a lot of flat track in it’s past.  Unlike the 750, which was filled with sexy performance bits and upgrades, the Bmoter seems to have been flogged mercilessly on the dirt ovals of the North.  It bears the scars of an unloved budget racer, owned by brutes who didn’t appreciate its fine performance pedigree.  The motor is a ’67 T120TT, which (for those of you unschooled in British bike nonsense) makes it sorta rare.  The TT Bonnevilles were a quasi factory-production racer for the US market, only around 950 were produced that year.  With a matching frame and a decent motor, they can command quite a wad.  The Bmoter, however, is a beat-to-shit lump in a TR6 frame, which is fine, saves me from having to restore it or something….

But wait, there’s more!  While “researching” my beloved new macheen, I ran across some interesting trivia.  Ya know who else owned a ’67 TT?  That’s right kids, none other than Evel Knievel hisself.  In the clip below, you might notice something odd hanging off the side of the Triumph.  It’s a sportster aircleaner.  Evel signed with HD years before the film (Viva Knievel 1977) was made, so I’m not sure if this was to appease the tractor mafia or if the Triumph was dressed as the XR’s stunt double.

And we all remember Evel’s famous Portland jump, right?  Of course, just follow along, okay?

Okay, so given the NW connection and his documented ownership of a hard ridden and undoubtedly abused ’67TT, it’s only natural to put two and two together- This is irrefutably Evel’s old bike.  Truth=Fact.  Jealous?  You should be.

Icon-  Thor let me give out one of the awards this year.  Having not entered a bike this time around, I figured I was as impartial as I was likely to get.  I was handed the “Eye of the Tiger” trophy and told to make up my own criteria.  I decided it meant a bike that looked as though it would inspire you to do something foolhardy at three-times the posted speed limit, resulting in giant fireball and a ride in a helicopter.  I took the responsibility waaaay too seriously, looking over each bike carefully, trying to feel it’s aura.  I would have loved to give the award to an unheard of garage-builder, but Icon’s Magnificent Bastard spoke to me (casey, casey pin it wide open and crash me into the nearest solid object….).  I’m just waiting for that free helmet to arrive in the mail, any day now…

I’d wager that this furry little bastard got more camera time than half the bikes in the show.  A crowd favorite for sure and beloved by children and braindead parents especially.

While Stephen’s front wheel was definitely a tripping hazard, at least it was easy to spot the two sissybars above the crowd.

Dirty

Would it be wrong to throttle a child?  Or should you go straight for the parents?  This, in my mind, was about the only downside of the show.  Why is it that the belligerent drunks seem to have more respect for peoples property than the belligerent child owners?  Why so many questions?  Did Dirty reallly throw a beer can at a little kid?  Wha?  Huh?

Had a Blast anyway, bikes, beer, pizza, old friends, new friends, sleep deprivation, loud music and wizard juice, so much wizard juice…

There’s been a lot sissybar fabrication going on lately, yet I’m getting somewhat luke-warm reactions to my insistence that someone needs “a giant sagittarius medalion” bolted to their bike.  I swear some people don’t know a good idea when they hear it.

As a rule, I’d say go for broke, the worst thing that will happen is that people won’t get it, but you didn’t build it for them anyway.  Actually, I guess the worst probably has something to do with low hanging powerlines…..

Impractical?  Station wagons are practical, this is how you build a chopper, mufucka’.
